Restorative Dentistry
At Ballard Family Dentistry in Saginaw TX, in addition to cosmetic dentistry, we also provide a variety of
restorative dentistry services. Since replacing damaged teeth can restore function as well as enhance the appearance,
there is some overlap between cosmetic and restorative dentistry procedures.
Restorative dentistry is a way to return your natural teeth to their original beautiful state. This can involve
repairing cracked, damaged or missing teeth. Restorative dentistry can also treat bite problems and decay, as well as
update previous dental treatments that may need replacing.
Dental Implants
A dental implant is a titanium screw that is attached to the jawbone and serves as an artificial tooth
root. A dental implant can be used to replace single tooth or several of them can replace multiple damaged or
missing teeth. A single dental implant is topped with a tooth crown that is identical in color size and shape to
your natural teeth.
Dental implant supported dentures are a restorative dentistry option for replacing multiple teeth. Instead of
worrying about your dentures sliding around in your mouth, our team at Ballard Family Dentistry in the Haslet, TX
area can use the same dental implant technology to place multiple titanium posts in your jawbone to which your
dentures can be attached. This will improve your ability to speak more clearly, eat all types of food and give you
increased confidence in your smile.
Dental Crowns – “Teeth Crowns”
Teeth crowns can be used to strengthen and protect teeth that are structurally weak. They can also be used
with dental implant technology to replace missing teeth. Teeth crowns are also used on each side of a dental bridge
to act as an anchor for the appliance. While teeth crowns can be made of a variety of materials, including gold,
porcelain teeth crowns are the most popular for our Haslet and Saginaw TX patients because they are aesthetically
similar to natural teeth.
Root Canals
Root canals are performed as a way to save a tooth that may need to be extracted otherwise. A root canal
involves replacing the inside of a tooth that has been damaged by injury, disease or decay. The pulp or ‘nerve’ of
the tooth is removed and replaced with a man-made substitute and sealed off. Often teeth that have undergone root
canals will be topped with teeth crowns for increased strength and stability.
Laser Dentistry
Laser dentistry refers to a number of different procedures but one of the most common ones for patients in our
office is removing excess gum tissue to give you a more balanced, natural smile. Dental lasers can also be used to
replace a drill or other more invasive dental tools, remove decay or enhance teeth whitening.
Wisdom Teeth Extraction
The removal of wisdom teeth is usually necessary for people in their late teens to mid-twenties. The wisdom teeth
are not always harmful, but if they come in wrong, they can cause crowding and infection. It’s important to have
your dentist diagnose whether or not you need to have your wisdom teeth extracted.
